Venezuelan oppositon leader Edmundo González said his son-in-law was kidnapped on Tuesday in Caracas, ahead of the planned inauguration of authoritarian president Nicolás Maduro on Friday.

González ran against Maduro in an election in July, and claimed victory by a margin or more than two to one, a result recognised by the US and western allies.

However, maduro was declare the victor by the electoral council without providing detailed evidence.
